On Montreal's 940News radio station oct 20,2005 early in the morning (around sehri
time), they were interviewing a scientist who had predicted the Asia
earthquake to the very date.
He was saying that in November, he is expecting three more major
natural disasters, including one that is to hit the same area of South
Asia again...except this one will be an even greater earthquake than
the one that just occurred. His estimation is that it can be as early
as November 9th...
He also said something about the planet Mercury emitting rays or
something that is affecting the Earth's polar axis, contributing to the
recent weather-related anomalies and problems...
Did anyone else catch this??
- If you are in a building, stay inside until the shaking or tremors stop. Most injuries during earthquakes occur when people are hit by falling objects when entering or exiting buildings.
- Use the 'DUCK, COVER, HOLD' tecnhique which is to,
1) minimize your movements during an earthquake.
2) move quickly to get to the nearest safe place.
3) then stay there.
- Take cover under a sturdy desk, table or bench, or against an inside wall. Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors or walls or any other thing that could fall.
- If you are in bed, stay there or underneath, and protect your head with a pillow.
- If you are not near a table or desk, cover your face and head with your arms, and crouch in an inside corner of the building.
- Do not seek shelter in a doorway unless you know that it is a strongly supported load-bearing doorway.
- Do not use elevators.
- If you are outdoors, stay there. Move away from buildings, streetlights and utility wires.
- If you are in a moving vehicle, stop as quickly and safely as possible and stay in the vehicle.
- Avoid stopping near or under buildings, trees, overpasses or utility Wires.
AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE
- Be prepared for aftershocks. These secondary shock waves are usully less violent than the main quake but can be strong enough to do additional damage to weakened structures.
- Visually inspect utility lines [gas, electricity, etc.] and appliances for damage.
- If you smell gas or hearing a blowing or hissing sound, open a window, and leave immediately. Shut off the main gas valve if it is outside. (Always turn off the gas before you turn off the electricity)
- Switch off electrical power at the main fuse box or circuit breaker if electrical damage is suspected.
- Use the phone only to report life threatening emergencies. (Many lives have been jeopardized or lost because of jammed cell phone network or overloaded telephone lines)
