LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - In a letter to patients from Indiana University
Health Arnett it was announced that an employee’s laptop computer was
stolen from the employee’s car. The theft occurred on April 9.
Hospital officials said the laptop was password-protected but not
encrypted. It was stolen in White County.
Officials said the White County Sheriff’s Office was immediately
contacted and IU Health Arnett began an internal investigation to
determine what information may have been on the computer.
That investigation determined that the laptop contained patient
information. Emails stored on the laptop’s hard drive may have contained
patient names, dates of birth, physicians’ names, medical record
numbers, diagnoses and dates of service.
