Had the same problem with OO.o 3.3 on OS X 10.7 (fresh install of both, but
existing copy of user directory). The crash log suggested an mdutil -t _num_
command to discover the offending file.
Said file turned out to be under the directory
~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice.org/3/user/uno_packages/cache
On the assumption that a cache directory in a user directory would probably be
re-created as needed, I deleted that entire directory, and restored the
importer plugin to its usual name (had renamed it to keep from repeatedly
crashing mdworker). Ran OO.o, played with some files, no crashes.
It may be that it's just _fragile_ if it encounters a corrupted file (might
have gotten corrupted if the system crashed while OO.o was running, for
example).
