Issue ID: 127381 Issue Type: DEFECT Summary: Spell checking Product: General Version: 4.1.3 Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: Normal Priority: P5 (lowest) Component: spell checking Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org Reporter: chris_germ...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- Please description of the bug on the forum: https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=87505 Spell checker problem - Default language doesn't stick Postby brucewol ยป Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:46 pm I've read numerous posts for spell checker and tried numerous solutions. Finally I uninstalled, reinstalled and deleted my user profile. I reinstalled with 4.1.3 and also installed the English language pack. I am still unable to get the spell checker to work initally on a new document and I think the reason for this is there is no default language for the document. The workaround is to use tools/language/for all text and select English USA. Then I close the document and open a new document. Then go to tools/options/language settings/language and the default language is german. i set this to English USA and select okay. Then I close the document, open a new document and the default language has been set back to German. So how do I set the default language from German to English USA and get it to stay for any future new documents that I create. I am using windows explorer new option to create a new opendocument text in the folder where i want it to reside? PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NEWEST VERION OF OPEN OFFICE CONTAINING THIS BAD BUG WAS AUTOMATICALLY INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER. THIS MEANS NOW THAT I NEED TO BUY A SHIT MICROSOFT WORD FOR WINDOWS UNTIL APACHE FIXES THE BUG IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO WRITE ENGLISH TEXTS WITH A SWISS FRENCH OR GERMAN KEYBOARD (I CANNOT NOT USE US OR UK ENGLISH KEYBOARDS BECAUSE THE LETTERS/KEYS ARE DIFFERENT). THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF OPEN OFFICE WORKED PERFECTLY WELL. PLEASE DO NOT UPGRADE VERSION THAT WORK. IT IS JUST WASTING VERY MUCH TIME FOR EVERYBODY.
