Thanks to Bruno and Paulo. My search has come to an end.
It's great to learn that it (attached mail below) can be done with that ease. After finishing my project I will advocate its use in other projects as well. And you are right, if I am not using window.print(), why should I need to write everything in jsp.
If we have this kind of report writing capability, I mean servlet + pdf, nobody is going to use the actuate and other costly stuff.
I would like to experiment both in jdk 1.3 and jdk 1.4.
Any suggestion regarding versioning?

Yes, but creating a binary file (PDF = binary) from JSP
is considered bad taste (read: bad programming).
You should write a Servlet. Every application server
that supports JSP also supports Servlets (JSP files
are compiled to Servlets anyway), so you have no excuse
NOT using Servlets.
