many thanks for your reply. Both versions (PdfCopy, PdfSmartCopy) have only a
single copy of the Form XObject (PdfTemplate) [see below]. Both files have the
same size. I am a little bit confused. Based on the answers I have received in
the newsgroup I have expected many copies of the template in the PdfCopy
version. Do you have an explanation for this ? Only to be sure that I have
interpreted your answer correctly: your are not sure whether I can use the
writer getImportedPage for my problem ("I'm not sure if the mechanism used by
PdfSmartCopy").
