What instead catches the eye, is the duplication of

Do you indeed have it in your code twice? That would make things weird
indeed.

Otherwise, if the duplication is but some mistagke in the mail, instead of
using iText try to write something else to the "new FileOutputStream(path)"
there and close it afterwards. If the file still does not appear, you would
have proven that your problem is not iText related.
