Thank you for your quick reply. When using adobe indesign the same pdf gets a
filesize of only 4-5MB compared to our 25 MB that has been generated with
itext. We have split up the pdf generated from adobe and it appears to
preserve the images quality. The filesize and resolution of the images has
not been changed. If we downsample the image we loose the quality. The
question is how does adobe preserve the quality of the images and at the
same time generate small pdf's? To me this doesn't make sense or have I
missunderstood some vital point in this process?
