I have a box with two pvr500s in it. I've noticed over the last month
or so that occasionally mythtv would record programs without sound. I
wasn't sure if this was a myth problem or ivtv, but last night I was
able to see it fail using "mplayer /dev/video0". The other 3 tuners
were operating successfully. I then did "rmmod ivtv" and "modprobe
ivtv" and all 4 tuners were working correctly. And after several
recordings last night (tuners unknown) /dev/video0 still has sound
this morning. I have the latest ivtv from atrpms:

ivtv-0.10.1-126.fc6.at.i386
ivtv-firmware-20070217-13.at.noarch
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.20-1.2925.fc6-0.10.1-126.fc6.at.i686

The initialisation of this tuner looks like this:

And /etc/modprobe.conf contains

alias char-major-81 ivtv-
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv

I also see messages like this from time to time, though I don't know
if they're relevant:

Mar 21 20:58:02 sheedy kernel: ivtv1 warning: CX2341X_ENC_SET_VBI_LINE
took 193 jiffies (1000 per HZ)
Mar 21 21:58:02 sheedy kernel: ivtv0 warning: CX2341X_ENC_MISC took
175 jiffies (1000 per HZ)

and much less often:
Mar 19 23:23:36 sheedy kernel: ivtv0: All encoder VBI stream buffers
are full. Dropping data.
Mar 19 23:23:36 sheedy kernel: ivtv0: Cause: the application is not
reading fast enough.

Do I need some extra configuration, or is this a bug. If the latter,
do you need more info?

Regards,

Chris
