I've been using version 0.8 with /dev/fb1 - seems to work great (I still get the infamous "ivtv: OSD: DMA xfer from 0xf6e01008 of 851968 bytes failed with (-512)..." messages, but they seem to be harmless) using ivtv 0.3.2a.
