Mike,

Do you know for sure whether the resulting MPEGs captured through the
250 have sound in them - i.e. test on a known working machine, or
demux the stream and see if an audio stream is being captured. I use a
350 which is a different kettle of fish as I feed the output of the
decoder element back into my soundcard. This may at least determine
whether it is the card that is not fully functional, or the audio/ALSA
side of things. I'd also search the system for other copies of  the
msp3400 module and rename them just to make sure. (What's the compiler
error btw?)
