Right!

1) Go here:
http://www.differentpla.net/node/view/430

2) A the foot of the page, click on 'General'. Check what you see against your settings. 3) Then glance through 'Capture Cards', Video Sources - this did not work for me although I used the same settings tv_grab_uk_rt etc. 4) Next go to Channel Editor. Now, because I'm in the UK and in North London, I wanted to know the Frequencies and/or the Channel numbers. I have a modern TV that self tunes AND shows the frequency. I made a note of those but what I needed were the channel numbers. I could have got both from http://www.wolfbane.com/articles/ukuhf.htm but wasn't aware of it at the time. What I used was:
http://www.wolfbane.com/uktv.htm

What I found was that from Alexandra Palace, BBC1, BBC2, ITV-1 and Four were at Channels 58, 64, 61 and 54 respectively. Look back at the second screen shot on the differentia site and you can see Frequency ID is set to 58. I used that set of input screens to set up six channels manually (five broadcast and a VCR). Later on I got xmltv going. It worked for a fortnight and then stopped and then I got it going again. I'm waiting to see if its just another fortnight only job. If it is, I have something
yet to try, so I'm not giving out advice just yet!

Best of luck.

Alan

Oh! by the way, I printed out all the screen-shots from the differentia site. I found it helped enormously. AS

That does sound good. I'm afraid I don't even know where such channel listings would go; I suppose I had assumed that ptune-ui dealt with that by using standard cable frequencies.

But hey, if you could drop me a line letting me know how to do that, I'd appreciate it.

Howdy-

I'm trying to build a MythTV box with a PVR-350 and a pcHDTV tuner
cards. I installed ivtv version 0.2.0 and could watch and record
video, but only one channel. I can't change using myth OR ptune-ui.
Nothing glaringly obvious in the logs, but i'm new and could have
missed something.

I tried putting a line in modprobe.conf telling it that I had tuner
47 (that information gleaned from the logs)

Anyone think they can help?

Do you have a channel listing downloading from somewhere? You need to
have channels defined before it changes to them

Just to add my two penn'th. Before I cracked the art of downloading. I set the
five local channels myself. I copied the frequencies and channel numbers
from a local (U.K.) website. It might be easier to get a few working that way before trying to master xmltv. If you want more detail, I can give it to you in
about four hours time! Just email me.
