I'm using essentially the same setup as you (Gentoo 2.6.12 kernel) and
still haven't managed to get CC to work AT ALL on my PVR-350, so hearing
that it's possible is heartening.
Are you using the PVR-350 decoder in MythTV to watch things, or are you
using the built-in (xv?) drivers?
im using the pvr-350 decoder in mythtv i selected the use pvr350 option for
live tv option in mythtv. To get the closed caption to work at all i had to
type...
ivtvctl -x 1 -b cc,ws -w cc,ws
that embeds the cc and wide screen data into the mpeg stream. i have a
script that
runs that everytime i start the system. the ivtv 0.2.0 drivers just gave
gibberish in
the captions so i had to use the 0.3.x drivers which work great.
though i still have the problem with the captions turning off when i skip
ahead and
never turning back on till i exit back to the main menu in mythtv, and
replaying what
i was watching.
