Hey all. This is a bit OT for the group, but I figured some here
know more about the internals of Xv than I. There's a thread going on my
mythv-users list about component output video cards. My thought is that
(aside from the tri-level sync issue), and VGA card that can do
sync-on-green can be used as component video output with a simple software
hack. Basically, output YUV data out on the RGB DAC's. Basically, no
point in using the card to convert YUV->RGB, and then have a transcoder,
etc go back from RGB->YUV so the TV can go YUV->RGB again.
I would think all it would take is either a dummy XV driver
(something that *says* it converts YUV->RGB, but actually doesn't), or
possibly even using x11 driver directly. Just put Y out (with CSYNC) on
G, and UV on RB. Don't need color transformations.
Seems a bit simple... surprised it hasn't been done.
