I just replaced a Pvr-250 with a 500. It took me several hours of playing with 0.3.7b to get it to work even though I was sure everything was being detected correctly. The clincher was reading in the archives where someone had changed the (now obsolete) no_black_magic flag and doing a cold boot. So I just did the cold boot and surprise, it worked! If anyone else is having the dreaded pulsing static problem, try giving that a spin.
