OK, phase one has started: collecting information.
I've made two tickets in trac (http://ivtvdriver.org/trac/):
Ticket #21: No sound on second tuner of a PVR500
Ticket #22: No sound on a PVR150
They have almost certainly the same cause but I've kept them separate for now.
If you have a PVR500 and have no sound on any tuner, then please use Ticket
#22.
If you have other sound problems than these then you have to make a new ticket
describing your problem. But you still have to follow the instructions below.
So if you have any of these problems, then please take the following actions:
1) Upgrade to 0.3.8 (see the announcement I made tonight)
2) Do not use any modprobe.conf options. The only exception is something like
'pal=i' that is needed for certain PAL variants. Other than that no module
options should be set at all. Also turn off any debugging options if you have
any set.
3) Load the drivers (modprobe ivtv should be enough).
4) Make a copy of the IVTV kernel messages in /var/log/messages
(or /var/log/kernel.log or whatever it ends up in your Linux variant). I'm
only interested in the bits between === START INIT IVTV === and the END line.
5) Test that you still have no sound.
6) Go to the ticket in Trac and add the kernel message file that you made to
the ticket using the Attach File button. In the comment area please specify
what board you are using (PVR150, PVR500MCE). Also specify here any other
comments: if there is a way to make the sound work by changing some input or
doing some other trick please state it here. If it worked in a previous
version, then I'd also like to know. Is it 100% reproducable or is it
intermittent? What TV standard are you using? (NTSC, one of the PAL
variations, SECAM)
It's the first time I'm using trac this way, so if there are problems getting
the data in trac then please post the same information to the list using the
prefix [SOUND] in the subject.
Well, that covers it all I think. Let's see if we can nail this one.
