I am using the 2.6.13.1 kernel with ivtv 1.3.8 with a PVR-150, and was
experiencing the same problems.
I found that an "mplayer /dev/video" output had the correct sound
levels, but didn't work after running "mythtv".
I looked at the volume levels with "ivtvctl -Y" before and after running
"mythtv", and found that the volume value was modifed. By using "ivtvctl
-y volume=62000" (it was set to 38912 by mythtv) I was able to reliably
restore the sound to it's original volume. This was a repeatable change
everytime "mythtv" was run.
This looks suspiciously like a "signed/unsigned" type problem in the
ioctl interface with "mythtv". I am continuing to look at the problem,
but I don't have a lot of time, so I thought that I would share this
result with the community.
