So except for that small delay your sound drop-outs are now fixed, right? I
think it has something to do with the automatical level control settings (and
possibly zero cross detect settings) that somehow caused your problems.
Can you try changing the value of the R18 register from 0x0a2 to 0x032 (around
line 270 in wm8775.c) and see if that makes any difference in the .5-2 second
delay?
