That could be solved with a simple image file rather than an mpeg.

It’s the osd overlay that is normally visible not the mpeg decode buffers.

There used to be code in there to initialise it to black. It wouldn’t be hard to re-enable that code.

Equally loading a static ivtv image file into there would be easy as well. If someone wants to create an ivtv logo then it is certainly possible.

Maybe somehow just submitting an mpeg could be used to our advantage?

If there was someone with artistic skills who could craft an ivtv mpeg (i.e. a spining ivtv logo or something), could it be played during driver startup? This would solve the problem when doing a soft reboot where the previous image is shown.
