Hi,

there is an issue that we should probably look into. After testing a change
related to display on Retina screens on Mac, a user reported that some
things were slow in JabRef 2.9 beta when working on his large database:

I also will appreciate if you could also answer me a second question
regarding "groups". Is a bad idea to use excessively groups in a database
of JavRef? I have large database with around 5,000 references, full of
groups and subgroups where I link all my papers by similar topics. For me,
this is what I like in JabRef.... However, I realized over the time that
my database has been very slow to open or better to expand when I have a
second database opened. Switching from this database for another is quite
impossible sometimes. Is the excessive use of groups the main issue?

I asked him to remove the groups and see if that made a difference. He
reported that this improved performance significantly. He also reports that
JabRef 2.8 is much faster working on these databases, so it could be caused
by some new feature in 2.9.

I don't have a suitable database with a lot of groups for testing, so I've
asked whether it is possible to get a copy of his database. That would make
it possible to look more closely into what is taking a long time.
