Hello I had the same problem with internet and jaws after downgrading from 8 to 7.1. The way I solved this problem is completely uninstall all versions of jaws with all shared settings and install only the version you work with no problem. You should ask the administrators to do this for you, since you have no administrative rights.
Negoslav hello all, A couple months ago, my work computer was upgraded to JAWS 8. However, I work in microsoft access all day long, and Jaws was not reading the fields, and the braille display was not showing the information I needed to be able to do my job effectively. I asked the IT department to put me back to 7.1, which had been working fine. But since then, I've had the strangest internet problem I've ever run across. I only hope I can explain it properly. it's as if the way jaws reads links and text on a web page has been completely turned around. now if I am trying to read a line or more of straight text, jaws and the braille display are showing it as if each word is on one line. I literally have to arrow down and down and down from word to word, instead of jaws reading a line, or the braille display showing 40 cells of text. For links, instead of ... how to describe this ... well, I often arrow through links, instead of tabbing, until I am familiar with a web page, because there is often important information in text above or below links. So, I'm arrowing down through what should be a list of links, but now the whole list is being shown horizontally across the braille display and jaws is reading a series of links like they are all in one line, not one below the other. For example, I work at Guide Dogs for the Blind, and on our intranet, we have links to the issues of our internal employee news letter. Before the jaws upgrade and un-upgrade, the links would appear to me on the braille display and by jaws reading like this: January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 and so on. Now they appear like this. January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 A line of simple text might read like this. A line of simple text might read like this I usually have to go online everyday to look up information on rehab and other blindness resources for people who are interested in getting a guide dog but don't have the mobility or other skills yet needed. This problem is getting so annoying, I'm having to put people on hold and ask a sighted coworker to look up info on their computers or in a print resource book they have. And of course, there is all kinds of important information for employees on our intra net. So, if my description makes any sense, does anyone have any ideas about how to resolve this? Is it something IT will have to do, since I am not an administrator for my computer at work? I've tried comparing my home internet settings in configuration manager and jaws verbosity and can't seem to find something that isn't the same on both.
