In case your computer does not have an icon for the volume control in the system tray, then there is another way to get to it. From the desktop, tab once then hit enter to open the start menu. press enter on Programs. open accessories, then entertainment then under entertainment, there is an icon for volume. Press enter on this. It will put you on the page where the various volume settings are located.
