As someone pretty much forced to switch to JAWS, you won't be resented for
posting lots of queries. Besides, other migrants from WindowEyes will also
benefit, saving even more posts!! My previous response didn't address every
stage of the process because it would take too long to anticipate every
question you might have. Please don't hesitate to ask your questions.

Adrian, Ok, I will give the steps below a try. Thank you for your help. I
just hope being a brand new user of Jaws I am trying to do everything myself
before posting so I hope I don't have to ask dozens of questions in the
first few weeks and drive everyone on the list crazy. Thanks again.

Dave

Dave,

On the graphics question, you can tell JAWS how to handle graphics. Open the
JAWS settings center with JAWS key+6 (on the number row above the letters).
If you want to make your choice in a particular application, such as your
email program have that program in focus when you open the settings center.
I suggest you do it this way because you may want graphics handled
differently in different applications. Then type the word graphics in the
edit field that appears when you open the settings center. Down-arrow
through the options. If you're unfamiliar with how to work with the settings
center, please re-post.

On the other items that JAWS reads when you open a message, I believe that
question is handled in the JAWS quick settings menu, which you get to with
JAWS key+v. In this case, arrow down until you hear a relevant item.

I hope this gives you the pointers to solutions. Your unfamiliarity with
JAWS may mean you post again, which is fine. People will take you through
each part of the problem. I can assure you there are solutions to each one
you identify.

Hi,
I just began using Jaws when I migrated from Window Eyes. I have
figured
how to set most things up but could use a little help with an issue I
can't
    figure out how to correct.
When I open a webpage and move around the links I hear the word graphic
before the link or Jaws tells me column, row headers and all that stuff.
In
email when the message opens it announces how many links, tables or
headers
are in the message and then announces tables and headers as I read the
message. This is driving me crazy.
I hope someone can tell me how to go about so all the stuff mentioned
above
    is not spoken
    Thank you,
    Dave Crowell
