That's because control-l forwards the message. It leaves the To: field
empty so you can provide the address to forward to.

Control-shift-l replies to the list. It works on this list -- I just
used it to send this reply.

Hi Mike and all,

When I use ctrl l the to field is blank.

I heard I think on the thunderbird forum that there is a bug with ctrl l.

When I reply to this message using ctrl r it just goes to Mike.

If I use ctrl shift r it goes to Mike and the list.

I went to the to field and deleted Mike so he doesn't get two copies.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the correction. I definitely read that table wrong, & Control
+ L is definitely the correct keystroke for replying to the list.

Control R responds to a single user message. Shift Control R responds
to all (the list and the sender in this case) and Control L responds to
the list.

Hi David,

Yes, that would be my guess as well but Thunderbird also has a keystroke
for
replying to a list,
Control, Shift, + L

I found this by checking out the URL Hareth posted,

Making an educated guess I believe it would be the reply command not the
reply all command.

Hi Hareth,

What keystroke is used to reply to a message from a group / list such as
this one, so the reply only goes to this list & noone else? I hope I'm
making sense. Thank you very much for your help.

You don't have to be crazy to run a list like this, but it does help.
