Hi Michael, 1st The only Jaws accessible version of Revo is, 1.95, but it won't remove 64 bit programs. I'm willing to bet that you're running CCleaner, & when updating CCleaner Avast was installed. Well, the company that owns Avast purchased Piriform, the company that developed CCleaner, & now you have to be real careful when updating CCleaner, or you will install Avast. I've had an instance where didn't install, but put the installation executable on the desktop of the computer I was working with. I only have experience with Windows 7 systems& J16 thru J2018, so I can't speak about Windows 10.
But, all is not lost, below are steps for removing Avast, & a link to download the removal tool. Read the steps 1st! 1. Press enter on the, AvastClear, .EXE file. 2. You will get the following message: Avast Antivirus Clear It is recommended to run this tool from Windows Safe Mode. Do you want to do that? Press "Yes" to reboot into Safe Mode now and run this tool from there. Press "No" to continue running this tool as it is (not recommended). Yes No 3. Tab to the, No button, & press enter or spacebar. Now press the spacebar on the, Uninstall button, to start the uninstall process as Administrator. After Avast is uninstalled you should get a prompt to restart the computer. When the computer reboots you can check to see if any remnants of the program are left behind. The 1 time I used this removal tool the only remnant I found left behind was an Avast folder in the Program Files, & Program Data folders on the root of the C drive, but I did not check the registry. In the end you have to ignore everything, & click I agree. ----- Original Message ----- From: Michael To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2017 9:20 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Trying to use the free version of Revo Uninstaller I beg your pardon. As far as I know, Avast was not preinstalled when I bought the desktop computer. Having said that, Avast was also installed on my laptop pc running Windows 7 64 bit around the same time. So, I respectfully disagree with you. Thank you. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of cheez Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2017 8:00 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Trying to use the free version of Revo Uninstaller Pretty sure Avast was pre-installed on your computer when you bought it. Good luck in un-installing it.
