I only disabled the mouse which is in the system's tray. Maybe it's a MS configuration issue on weather it shows there or not??

My point though is that you have to set that in the power settings otherwise it is not in the system tray. It is not in the system tray of Janet's acer and I haven't bothered to put it there. The touch pad is there in the system tray and I would like to be able to get it into the system tray of this Lenovo but there doesn't seem to be a setting for that. It does however have the pointer above the 'B' so the odd sighted passer can use it with the pad disabledIf the battery meter is not in the system tray then the Jaws scripts to read it won't tell you the battery status.----- Original Message ----- From: "Patricia Dunbar" <patricia-dun...@sbcglobal.net>To: <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 7:57 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Checking the Status of a Laptop BatteryYes, we too have an Acer laptop and the battery info is listed in the system's tray too. Also is the mouse which is disabled currently.----- Original Message ----- From: "Dale Leavens" <dleav...@puc.net>To: <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 4:49 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Checking the Status of a Laptop BatteryI don't use Outlook Express just now, it is called Windows Mail under vista but on my last computer it didn't seem to conflict with anything. The information the hot key offers is a percentage of charge and estimated hours of remaining operation. There are three notebook computers around here, an IBM, this Lenovo which is the new Chinese model and an acer. Their battery controls are all different but they all have an option to show battery status in the system tray. I believe that the Jaws scripts go look in the system tray for the battery status so this is an option you must have enabled.Janet's Acer does not presently have that enabled and I haven't bothered it only goes for an hour or a little better on the battery anyway, very nearly useless computer that way. When this one is plugged in and I use Jaws + Shift + B I get the message "battery status not found". I don't know why because it is still all there in the system tray unless maybe there is a colour component the scripts use which changes when the power supply is active.----- Original Message ----- From: "David Ferrin" <ow...@jaws-users.com>To: <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 5:28 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Checking the Status of a Laptop BatteryIt sounds like you receive complete and accurate information with a simplekey stroke. I imagine you could only do that where that key combination doesn't interfere like in outlook express for example. On this ThinkPad X series it reads the status when unplugged but doesn'tseem to be able to find the spot when plugged in.I believe you have to have the battery meter showing in the system tray and you can always see it if it is there by opening that menu with JawsKey +F11. When looking at it that way you will also see if it is charging. After that it depends on the software and that depends on the computer. Ican click on that and make changes to the battery settings like variouspower saving options. I have a second battery in my CD bay most of the time and I can see information about the status of each battery including age andhow many times each has been cycled. I suppose this is a lot more than you wanted to know but it is all done using Jaws.----- Original Message ----- From: "David Ferrin" <ow...@jaws-users.com>To: <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Sent: Friday, February 06, 2009 2:00 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Checking the Status of a Laptop BatteryIt's fine so long as you're doing it with jaws in the mix.
