No. If you are entitled to JAWS10 it will run fine when installed. Go to
the full download ftp as Eric and others have given it, to download the
JAWS10 full (now latest) version.

Focus was not lost in this way for me in any version of 10. It worked
(and
works) fine for me, in what I'm doing. Now the subject you replied to
refers to error(or errors) in the update process. I had no problems
there.
Others have. I wouldn't put off trying updating just because of that.

before you install the new build, perhaps you need to first uninstall
and
remove your original JAWS10 and its folders - particularly if it was
downloaded from the Web. Then try installing the new build. Or, if
the
original JAWS10 was downloaded from the Web, you could uninstall it and
then
install it with the JAWS10 CD, and then update it via JAWS Updates.
(For
safety, just check that JAWS10 one, before doing any other updates
there.)

Tried to update jaws from the update in help didn't work got an error
message. Then I downloaded the file and about 50% through the
installation
after several retries and starting over kept getting the following error
message even after a reboot and trying again.

network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a
