I think I agree. That version was extremely stable, seemed to be quite
robust against crashes and disappearing speech.

Yes, for me it was JAWS 4.something. I moved over kicking and
screaming. I
was not happy about my employer refusing to support Artic and Magic by
MicroSystem. Magic would not work with JAWS and I had to use ZoomText.
Looking back, it was a necessary and good move.
