No! The Easy Install performs an unattended install. When it is finished, it is configured enough to start narrator and install your preferred screen reader. I prefer NVDA for Virtual Machines. It seems slightly more responsive and there are no licensing issues. Freedom Scientific requires an authorization key for each Virtual Machine created, unless you just use the 40 minute demo mode. Sales actually insisted on a separate license for each. Both Freedom Scientific and Microsoft do not yet have special clauses or rates for Virtual Machines. Of course, Open Source software, like NVDA or Linux/GNU can be used on as many Virtual Machines as you want.
If there is a surprise screen during the process (or with some inaccessible application in the Virtual Machine) you still might not need sighted help! The new JAWS Convenience OCR feature can get you through most of these situations! I had worked on similar solutions and requested the feature for JAWS just for this purpose. Not only can it usually read the inaccessible screen on the guest Virtual Machine, you can directly interact with it and simulate mouse clicks on words that the OCR extracted from a button or link! *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org <http://www.vinuxproject.org/> On 7/12/2012 2:32 AM, Grant Hardy wrote: > Thanks so much for your helpful replies! > > So just to confirm, it would be best to have a sighted person help set > up the virtual machine initially, because there would not be screen > reader access in the beginning.
