George,
Thanks so much. I had forgotten about msconfig. I used it when I had a
windows XP computer. The only thing I wasn't clear on is how to make all
services run in the background. I didn't see that option on the services
tab.
Greg

Greg,
Try typing MSCONFIG in the Windows + R dialog box and press enter.
Then, you might get the security confirmation, if you want to allow this
program to make changes to your computer?
Select yes, then press the space bar

There you can uncheck/ check what starts up.
In the start up tab.

The only things that should be checked is Jaws and your antivirus to run at
start up.

In the service tab, everything should be checked to run in the back ground.

Use control + Tab to move in the tabs.
Don't mess with the other tabs, if your computer is running good.

To save any changes, you must tab to the apply tab, then shift tab to the OK
and press the spacebar.

If, you made a lot of changes, the computer will ask for a restart ?
Accept it.

HTH,
                                                Jorge

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Using autoruns

I am trying to use the autoruns program to see what programs are loaded at
startup on my computer. A list of all the programs is displayed (some 77 in
all). As I use Jaws to scroll up and down the list of the programs Jaws
announces "checked" after each program that loads at startup. However when
focus is on a program I want to uncheck pressing the spacebar does nothing
to uncheck the item. Pressing enter or using the mouse cursors also does
not uncheck the highlighted item. I am using Jaws 15 latest release on a
windows 7 computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg Washington
