Press the alt key, which takes you to the ribbon. Then press n for the
insert tab. Press n again. Press u and then b for bottom of page. You
will hear "plain number one grid". Tab once. You will hear "plain number 2
grid. Press enter, which executes the command and returns you to the
document. You should then have a number at the bottom center of each page.

Hello. When I used Word 2003, it was so easy to install numbering protocols
on the permanent template. It took about 2 minutes, tops. Now in 2010,
what a nightmare. After 3 MS Disabilities desk specialists failed
miserably, how are we expected to accomplish this previously routine task?!?

It is imperative that I have pages numbered at the bottom center of all
documents that I generate. I was reminded by an editor that if someone
accidentally dropped my hard copy submission, how would anybody ever
straighten out the mess? Some professionals prefer to read a lengthy
document that is not stapled or in a notebook, for example. Some of my
documents are in excess of 200 pages+. As was said previously, when I
write, the last concern I need to concern myself with is placing a page
number at the bottom and which one should it be besides.

This gives you a little background why I must one way or another have the
ability to print page numbers on all pages of every docx painlessly. For
this reason, this numbering feature must be installed on the permanent
template, it seems to me.

Not as bad as placing footnotes, something I haven't had to do in more than
30 years, but I take the point. It should be possible to set up the project
the way you want it, and just go. The only thing on your mind, once you
begin, should be saying what needs to be said in the best way possible. I
haven't fooled with page numbers for a while, but sounds as if I need to
look at that again.

One of the advantages of working on a computer is that you have the ability
to get something done with a keystroke rather than making some monotonous
project out of it. When working on a multi-page project you have enough on
your mind without numbering pages.

Flor,
I was waiting for someone to write to me.

The time you spent writing the docs and proof reading them, if you type in
the page number as you go along, Everything would have been done.
Excuse me for my back yard mechanic skills.

That would quickly become tedious in a multi-page document.

Hi,
Why don't just edit the page number yourself and move on.

PS It may be practical to practice in a word document before creating the
template.

Hello Liuda,
You may wish, or need to create a new template.
Create a New Template
1. Press alt then f for file, then n for new, 2. Tab down to Blank Document.
3. Press right arrow to My Documents and press enter.
4. arrow around to find blank document
6. tab down past okay button to create new template button 7. Here, anything
you do to the document, (such as inserting page numbers,) becomes part of
the template.
8. press enter and then insert t to confirm it is a new template.

Do you need instructions for numbering pages?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Numbering in Word 2010

I use Win 7, JAWS 16 and Word 2010.

I need to change the permanent template so that a number is put on every
page, at the bottom in the center. I would prefer, if I do not have a
number on the first page, if this is possible.

Does anybody know how I can make this permanent change on the template? I
tried everything imaginable, but nothing seems to work.

Thanks in advance for your help.
