Reed,

No need to select the entire row. Just have the focus on any cell in that 
row (ditto for a column).

If you simply want to clear the cells in a row or a section of a row, then 
by all means select those cells you want to clear, and simply press the 
delete key. This will clear the cells but not move any other rows or 
columns.

Hi

I find the easiest way to insert a new line into a spread sheet is to
position the cursor on the first line below where I want the new line to be.
Then press alt+I, let those up and press r.  Then I will be positioned on
the new line.
