No need to be defensive! There are still several months during which it's freely available. Tech consultants aren't saying that you shouldn't upgrade. They're saying that most people would do well to wait a few months before doing so. The more one learns, the better equippped one is tohandunforeseen situations that may arise (for one reason or another). To some people, their printers and scanners are important tools so they may need to tread cautiously before trying to upgrade with them and/or get replacements that will work as well.

Agreed.

Besides the fact that actual tech professionals from both Dell and HP
continue to recommend waiting to upgrade to Windows 10 there really is no
reason to upgrade if you don't have to. If Windows 7 or 8.1 works then
don't
break what is not already broken. I have very successfully helped install
Windows 10 as both upgrades and as clean installs on new machines and while
it is a good Operating Machine there is issues of accessibility that both
Microsoft and all the major screen readers are continuing to work out. That
is not a negative on any company it is a fact based on a very deep
understanding of computers as an instructor, programmer, and writer of
tutorials since 1984.
Never mind the fact that many people are upgrading only to find that they
have printers, scanners, external hard drives, and other peripherals that
will no longer be supported under Windows 10. Not everyone learns at the
same level. And not everyone can afford to replace outdated hardware
just to
scan their electric bill after they get a nasty surprise from an upgrade.
I have my machines working just great on Windows 10 and for the record I
used Windows 10 the Missing Manual via bookshare. I even got my windows 7
sound scheme working on a machine I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10
with a little bit of geeking and tweaking.
And I highly recommend that if you do not need to upgrade this minute, wait a few months to upgrade to Windows 10. Unless you are buying a new machine.
Then by all means get a Windows 10 machine with at least 16 GB of ram and
run Jaws 17 and it will rock your world.

They need some different consultants.
Windows 10 works great with Jaws 16 latest, and with Jaws 17.
This is one of those fear letters and worry groups.
Yes, you will have a little, learning to do, but everything will be just
fine on your computer.
I have helped many people upgrade with no issues.
A w-7, computer sometimes will take using the media creation tool, two
times
or so.
Because, it needs to update all the older w-7 drivers.
A w-8.1, computer, upgrades the first time.
But if a person follows my guide, they should be OK.
Of Corse, there are always exceptions to any computer update.
But this continued panicking about w-10, I can't understand it.
I and other users of Jaws, have been using w-10, for four months now.
I love it, it is a far superior computer system...

Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed
reaching His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with
good health.
Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually
balanced with wealth.
Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens
where
God sits.

Here's a blip from the Oregon Computer Consultant's organization. I see no
reason to doubt their objectivity.
"Updating to Windows 10 - NO!
At meeting of computer consultants on Oct 27 we discussed windows 10
updates. - Not clean installs but updates from 7 or 8.1 to 10. Every
consultant recommended waiting. Despite that, many had tested the update on
their own non-crucial systems. Also, some clients had updated accidentally
or against advice or demanded the consultants update them.

The consultants had experience with 33 update attempts. 11 failed. Most
failures could be reversed and returned to their previous condition, but
some lost their computers completely. This isn't a large sample, and
computer consultants might not have heard from clients who updated
successfully, so my guess is that much less than 33% fail. Probably more
like 10% or 15% and of those probably 80% can return to their old operating
system and continue to run fine, but it still seems crazy to do this
with an
important machine.
Furthermore, possible that if you aren't getting the latest versions of all
your software, you could have some incompatibility there.

Tech support centers say that the problems caused by the Windows 10 update
are double that of most other Windows operating system upgrades.
This is probably
not because the upgrade process is worse, but because people are being
forced to do it.

Wait a few more months before you succumb to the Borg."
