It does have its place, though. Sometimes it'll fill in things (and even allow one to more easily play media content) that neither Internet Explorer nor Firefox will.

Presumably for the same reason Microsoft kept annoying us with reminders to download Windows 10. Google really wants us to use Chrome. I agree, it's a distraction.
