I'd made  a fix to this bug, see topic

This bug is caused by the awful generics support in Java5.0. Your code also 
doesnt compile in JDK1.4 cos there's no support to generics. By specs, u cannot 
redefine only the returning type of a method, but Java5.0 allow u to do that :(
Luckily, the 2 runtime methods differs, one is volatile (the redefined), other 
is concrete (the redefining), allowing us to disting each other.
