"Bilbil" is often loosely translated as nightingale, (bulbul) from the Persian via Turkish and Arabic , becoming the diminutive in Judeo-Spanish, "bilbilicos".

I've always thought it was a pretty schmaltzy kind of song, but the
tune's great; it's often used for "Tsur Mishelo akhalnu".
