Hi, I googled this thread (having the same problem) and it seems that Safari won't render images that have the CSS-property "display: block" set.
See this site: http://f6design.com/journal/2006/09/29/image-source-swapping-css-and-safari/ This is a serious issue cause the whole library runs on the "display" property.
