JSR-223 is little more than a more complete and more current BSF. It provides many of the same features, and very few additional new ones. It's important, however, in that it would provide hooks for plugging dynamic-typed languages directly into an existing JVM, and also in that it updates the stuffy BSF interfaces with modern JVM hooks and concepts.

Talking of which, have anyone checked out the Scripting for the Java
Platform (JSR 223) implementation, and possible strategies for JRuby
inside of this?
