OK, but you might want to look at what the JDT does; there's a class
org.eclipse.jdt.core.dom.rewrite.ASTRewrite
That takes a Java AST, you tell it the rewrites you want to do, and it
generates the edits for the source.
I can't say which is the better solution, but maybe the JDT can give a
hint for that.
