Hi, I know it's been a while since I posted. The first question is an old
issue I had before and never resolved, but found a workaround for. It's not a
big deal if nobody knows the answer but it's just an unusual thing.
I can't insert effect sends. I used to be able to do this when I had windows
xp and sonar seven. I understand the procedure of getting to the track name
field and pressing right mous and going down the menu and effect send is like
the third choice. But when I press that button it skips right through to that
fourth choice. I tried rooting the strip window. I forget what the command is
but it says strip not found. That's weird because I see the strip when I arrow
across. What's also weird is that a couple times I actually did see insert
send on the menu of choices. But I could do that consistantly. I have a
workaround though so I'm just curious thinking that maybe if I can understand
why insert send doesn't show, I can do other things or understand other things
about jsonar.
My workaround is that I just clone the track with the effect send on it and
uncheck events.
My other question is about quantizing. I know, all you midi buffs are going to
rip me a new one. I used to use midi and I loved it for one reason, I could
quantize. I know that I can use midi, and have even done it with sonar, but
frankly, I just don't have the time to try and figure ikt all out, just need to
get stuff down before I forget it so I'm mostly doing audio. I know you can
actually quantise audio but would like to know how easy it is to do? I saw the
option under processing but wasn't sure if it did anything. That would be most
helpful when doing drum tracks.
Btw, this is kind of a question that has nothing to do with sonar, unless I get
the urge to record some van halen covers. Does anyone know how to count the
intro to panama? I want to learn the bass for it For that matter, could
someone send me the bass, as I have trouble hearing the little things he's
doing inbetween being jonny one note. I have a feeling that this timing issue
might be something I have to deal with through the whole song.
Also, just another issue that doesn't have a lot to do with sonar. I have a G
1000 and there's a kind of baseball organ sound, works well for tight rope and
crossfire. I was wondering if there is a way to make it darker. I guess that
would be a good reason to figure out how to use soft synths. I could probably
get the exact right sound that way.
Ok, that's all my questions. It's ok if they don't all get answered or if
someone complains that some of them didn't have much to do with sonar.
Thanks
Michelle Thomas
