Him moving back a little is actually a good thing as long as the timing and pitching is the same on both tracks. I always record doubles with the person further from the mic or i sometimes even use a different mic. Commpress both just to even them out and then listen and find the balance.

Hello, I'm working on a project from me and my butty here and I'm having just a little trouble geting his vocal doubles leveled out. they were recorded on the same mic same volume level and all that good stuff. I'm thinking that maybe he moved justt a little and is throwing off the levels a little bit. should I just compress all the vocal doubles and mix or how do the r&b guys get the hook vocals levels to sound so even on the corous? I'm going crazy please help. (smile)
