A professional attitude, and consistancy in operation are the
importnt halmarks of a good working band.
issues with alcohol, keeping band members together and just such
things as you mention is why I decided to start doing solo and
sometimes duo or trio gigs.
More money split less ways.
the best experiences I've had are working single and duo, I like
working with a female singer when I can find one that's not a
premadona, and can play instruments well not just sing and shake her stuff.
YOu can reach more crowds with a man woman thing, and you can cover a
lot more ground doing your own tracks, because you don't necessarily
have a weak link, there's always something wrong in a band, the
drummer or basist can't play that riff,
or not everyone sings on pitch.
with all the stuff we have now, a singles or duo act can do very
well, also get in to places that can't aford or don't have the room
for a full band, but will do the duo thing.
it means a litle more work, only one or two of you to do stuf, but
it's very rewarding.
If my health ever gets back up to par, I think I'll find me a good
female singer to work with that I can stand and can stand me.
YOu can make a pile of money playing all the dead animal clubs, you
know eagles, elks, american legions, and you don't have the fights
and crap there you do in regular bars.
YOu also get paid more, lots of college bands around here play for
peanuts or for exposure, screw that, show me the money honey.

Yeah it's on myspace. But I lost the actual file. Just been too
embarrassed to ask. I've improved since then. Like I said, most
of the time, I have been working on my inept right hand thing and
my vocals, which always need to be tweaked and fine tuned. Did I
tell you about the karaoke contest I won? Now before you say
karaoke and turn up your nose distainfully, there were some pretty
tallented people singing. There was also the time I went to
Hawaii and did at last and there were also awesome people singing
but nobody cheered for them. They were really cheering for
me. It was so cool. Then it was like everybody rushed me after I
got off the stage. But the best part was winning that big screen
TV. It's the first and probably last time I will ever get paid
for singing, despite my new year's resolution to have a paying
gig. We have gotten closer to that goal though. We actually had
a non-paying gig somewhere which went horribly wring as far as
technical stuff. I.E. we got smoked out by the guys who were
grilling and griped out by one who apparently couldn't take it
when they started playing rock and roll all night.; But
otherwise, couldn't have asked for a better sounding gig for a
first time. The best part was I didn't have to play bass or do
anything real flashy. Anyway I think the url is myspace.com/thebluesgoddess
Melissa heard me do at last the other day and she says You are the
Karaoke Goddess not just the blues Goddess. Of course, the next
time we went somewhere I messed up and did Georgia, really should
have gotten the lyrics for that first. It didn't go well. But I
recovered nicely. Ok end off topic. Right now working on Stop
draggin my heart around, working with a performance on the
motif. It will sound cool when I am done with it. More sad I think.

Yeh, little sis and me been buds for years.
She hates it when i call her that, that's why I do it 'grin'.
But seriously, one of these decades, she's gonna break out and
show the world her talent.
If she can ever get her display settings right. 'grin'.
I'm a poor hobled right brained male who insists on doing things
in a logical, gconnected sequential manner.
There's the right way to do things, the wrong way to do things,
and then there's Michelle's way' unabashed cheeky grin.
Rock on girl, you know I think the world of you.
YOu guys should hear her do backrub blues, you still got that up someplace?

Nicki I am glad I could provide amusement. I like to do
that. Don't take what we say too seriously. We are both a
couple of opinionated hotheads. Chriss does more with his stuff
than I do with mine. I think of sonar as a big fancy tape
recorder. Chriss knows a lot more about doing other stuff with
it. He knows more about engineering. Me, I'm like oh wow! I
can run a compressor on my vocals. That's cool man. Chriss is
like big deal, I can run twenty billion effects on 72 billion
tracks. And I'm like why would you need to do that? Because I
know nothing about such things. I'm a minimalist not by choice,
but because I don't know any better. Chriss might have a hundred
tracks in one song. I might have five. See what I mean? So he
has a right to be a hothead. He knows more than me that's
all. Like I said, I just think it's cool that I can use a
compressor and that I can actually record a bunch of stuff and
mix it to a cd and give it to my mom as a birthday present. I've
got the world's best Karaoke machine. No more trying to record
stuff and having it sound great on my dat and then mixing it to
cassette and going wow that sounds like crap now. There are
things I'd like to learn to do like vocal editing. But for the
most part I do what needs to be done.

I am going to try this a few times before I go ahead and send
but have done this twice with good results. I'm not even hooked
to my audio interface, nothing recorded. I just went to the
process menu with alt p and then escaped out of it. Then my
control ap key did what it was supposed to do. I'm not sure
what that triggered, but it's a simple step.
More good news, I have loaded and unloaded sonar seven times and
now don't even have to do alt p. As soon as I insert the new
audio track the insert send comes up for now anyway. I figure
consistancy is a very good thing. Now I can learn some more,
provided Chriss doesn't make any more snide comments. There are
specific things I'd like to learn like how to select and
possibly delete measures and or beats of a song. How to insert
an effect in a certain place. Like if you have a certain spot
in a song that needs a little extra delay or something. It's
just one note in a vocal track for instance.
And there are questions like would midi work better now that I
have a motif? Should I be running the computer through motif
and through my audio interface? I would think the answer is
yes. Anyway, I've got consistancy loaded and unloaded sonar
several times even since a few minutes ago and as soon as I
insert the audio track the context menu works. I don't know how
the alt p thing fixed it but it did. No more cloning. And I'm
sure I've got it this time. No more emails that say well I
thought I figured it out. It's a done deal.
