This is a long-standing problem, and nobody seems to know why it is.
The only solution I have found is to go back and install older release after
older release, until the problem disappears. I found it too much trouble to
go that route, so I just installed an older build which I happen to have
lying around, namely the build filename jsonar8_snapshot_r1088.exe. There
may be newer versions which do not have this problem, but at least from my
experimentation, Snapshot R1217 does have the problem, so try somewhere
inbetween and let us know if you find a working version between R1088 and
R1217.
I would be grateful if you can let me know if you find any better.
Yes, I know, those versions are old, and there may be newer versions that
have some valuable functionality fixes, but I guess we can't take advantage
of those without this problem going away, and after some time the question
was quietly dropped on the list, and whenever it was brought up from time to
time by those few of us who do experience it, and since nobody knows the
solution, it was just left without resolve. Sadly.
Anyway I've learnt to live with it.

Hi i upgraded to jaws 12 today then installed the latest HSC build 208 and
the latest j,sonar. The installation whent fine and when opening sonar i
pressed control jaws and R to run the setup wizard. Then i get a error.
Could not run setup wizard please make sure you register j sonar.dll. Can
someone help please?
