So much happens in a day!
I hope the others have answered your questions Paul. In summary, Ugo has
added a command line switch to OpenJUMP that allows you to pass in the
project to open. I think you can look at SkyJUMP to determine how to set up
a file association for JUMP, or ask Larry Becker for more details. (I think
this will only work for MS Windows. I still need to figure out how to do if
for Linux and GNOME.)
We'd really love to have your contributions in OpenJUMP, but we won't have
are feelings hurt if your improvements go into SkyJUMP instead. We will be
trying to port SkyJUMP improvements to OpenJUMP over the course of time. If
you decide to commit your changes to OpenJUMP we will set you up with CVS
access. (You'll have to be registered on SourceForge for this.) I only ask
that you have one of the other developers take a quick review of your code
before it is committed. I can do that if you'd like, or another OpenJUMP
developer if your more comfortable with them.
I'd like to ask that you package you new features or functionality as
plug-ins whenver possible. OpenJUMP and SkyJUMP share this modular design
which makes plug-in development very easy, and keeps the core program lean
and mean. However, if you'd like to give us some more details on your GUI
improvements I don't have a problem with those being committed to the
OpenJUMP core, as they' don't really work in plug-ins.
Martin,
If you tell me your SourceForge user name I'll set you up with write access
to the OpenJUMP CVS today. All of your contributions are welcome, as I'm
sure Stefan and the others would agree.

Quite right. I hacked the FirstTaskPlugIn (and some other code in
OpenJUMP) to
accept the comm line argument. It was indeed done a while ago, but should
still
work ;-)
Cheers,
Ugo
