I don't like to judge how things are done in the background. As a user I only see the GUI and its behavior. And when I am in the middle of a presentation and just because of an accident click on another toolbar button than desired lets my images disappear and I have to restart digiKam to be able to continue my presentation cannot be correct. (You can imagine what the audience was thinking.
