As one of the devs working on Kate, this will never happen from my side at
least. Reason is simple, if you want a project with fine tuning, editing a json
file is no big deal.
That said, we lack options for fine tuning with git and co so things need to be
added.

Just landed, so you can at least open any directory as project for now.
