To be honest, i'm not sure that KDE::Solid API used in background to detect hardware in computer will work as expected under MacOS in the future, as it work under Linux. Why ? because KDE team don't care about MacOS... I take a look to other open source programs which have a similar functionality (Clementine for ex), and they use a different way to achieve external drives detection.
