However, thanks to your comment I have found out something more interesting about the problem: it depends on the zoom level applied!!!! When I start the trace with a zoom level far away, the ellipse trace is not correct (as seen in the images). However, if I zoom in and start the same trace, an ellipse is drawn perfectly, without anomalies.
