I did a complete new install of Kubuntu 16.04 LT. I installed Kdenlive from ppa.launchpad.net/kdenlive/kdenlive-stable/ubuntu. I installed extra codeces (see attached file) I updated frei0r and MLT. (see attached file) After a reboot everything works fine.
