Changing the default URL in "configure -> kmymoney -> online quotes -> yahoo currency" from "http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=%1%2=X&f=sl1d1"; to "http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=%1CAD=X&f=sl1d1"; fixed the Canadian dollar issue.
